New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone was straightforward and honest when asked about the early-season struggles of Jazz Chisholm Jr.

After Chisholm went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Saturday’s loss to the Baltimore Orioles, Boone didn’t hold back in his assessment of the 28-year-old switch-hitter.

Boone’s Honest Comments

“You have high expectations and obviously, he’s an outstanding player,” Boone told reporters. “You sense guys feeling it when you’re a month plus in and you’re not doing what the back of your baseball card says… Probably feeling that a little bit. Probably pressing a little too much, trying to do a little too much. He’s gonna get it going, I have no doubt about that.”

Boone acknowledged that Chisholm is currently feeling the pressure of high expectations but made it clear he has full confidence the talented player will bounce back soon.

Chisholm’s Slow Start in 2026

Through the first 41 games of the 2026 season, Chisholm is hitting just .201 with 4 home runs, 14 RBI, 17 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases. His recent slump has been noticeable, especially during the Yankees’ recent stretch of inconsistent play.

Chisholm, acquired from the Miami Marlins before the 2025 season, was expected to be a key piece in the Yankees’ lineup and is in the final year of his contract.
