New York Yankees have made a roster move just hours after a big 9-2 win over the Texas Rangers.

The team officially optioned right-handed pitcher Brendan Beck back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday night, clearing space ahead of their upcoming series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Beck Makes MLB Debut at Yankee Stadium

The 27-year-old Beck made his long-awaited Major League debut in Thursday’s victory, tossing 3.0 innings and allowing 2 earned runs. Although the outing was solid for a first appearance, the Yankees decided to send him back down immediately after the game.

Beck was emotional after the debut, saying:

“It was awesome, a lot of fun. Obviously, a dream come true to come up here and do it at Yankee Stadium. And awesome to just get a win, win a series with the guys and just keep things rolling here.”

Why the Move Was Made

The Yankees are currently rolling at a strong 26-12 record, leading the AL East. With the Brewers series starting Friday night in Milwaukee, the team is managing its pitching depth carefully as they head out on the road (where they sit at 12-6 this season).

Beck, a second-round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, had been performing at Triple-A earlier this season (2-2, 5.11 ERA in seven games). He also pitched for Team Great Britain in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
